3:56 am	Something's just not right with Brigadoon I've reviewed Brigadoon here. The film mainly concerns itself with a love story and the theme that love can conquer all, but the basis of the story, with God saving the inhabitants from having to talk to atheists or pagans, was too much for me to pass up. 3:46 pm	Reviews on two very different films We took a look at two films that are rarely going to be part of the same double feature: The SciFi channel's Fire Serpent and the bombastic Ben-Hur. 4:50 am	New Review: The Magdalene Sisters Over 30,000 women in Ireland were forced into the Catholic-run Magdalene Asylums/Laundries. There they were mentally and physically abused; many never left. This is not some ancient crime. The last laundry was closed in 1996. I've reviewed The Magdalene Sisters, which tells the slightly fictionalized account of three girls, imprisoned because their real and imagined sexual behavior didn't conform to Church standards. 2:16 pm	You'll Only Take His Staff from his Cold Dead Hands Thought it was time to post a review of a religious film that doesn't suck. Outside of Christmas flicks, they can be hard to find. 3:40 pm	So, What is The Ninth Gate? Roman Polanski's Satanic thriller, The Ninth Gate, is fascinating, but far from clear. If you want a neat, simple, straightforward narrative, this isn't the place to look. But it does fall into place with a bit of thought and is well worth your time. 4:32 pm	Atheists Like Cult Films Too Time to submerge myself in cult cinima. That's where you'll find the films that would really upset fundamentalists, if they'd ever see them. I took a look at The Halfway House, and found it great fun. There's a nasty nun, a priest who likes to spank girls with his Jesus paddle, topless troubled girls, and a monster in the basement.
